Renee Villanueva

Renee Villanueva has over 25 years of experience in Multi-Specialty Practice Management. She has acquired expertise in developing business strategies, streamlining operational efficiencies and maximizing ancillary office services for Private Enterprises, Managed Care Organizations, IPAs, and Hospital-based outpatient clinics.

In the course of her professional career, Renee has provided both start-up and long-term administrative oversight for multiple solo and group practices. Her management scope includes daily operational practice-planning, development of organizational policies and procedures, staff hiring and education, practice budget and finance.

As a Practice Management Consultant, Renee has worked with numerous medical specialties including; Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, Gastroenterology, Urology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Plastic and Reconstructive Hand Surgery, Orthopedics and General Surgery. Renee has also been instrumental in recruiting physicians to Kern County. To date, she has successfully recruited and retained over 30 physicians, including Primary Care Doctors, Medical Specialists, Department Chairs, and a Chief Medical Officer.

Operationally, Renee was personally involved in the selection and implementation process for several Electronic Medical Records in different practice locations, and has orchestrated ongoing physician education in Evaluation and Management coding and ICD-10 training.
Renee has successfully built a comprehensive physician network for a Regional California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Hospital’s Inpatient and Outpatient practice, and was the Director of Correctional Medicine for Dignity’s Mercy Hospitals in Bakersfield.

Renee has been instrumental in the development of Patient Centered Medical Homes within her community. She enjoys empowering a team of healthcare providers who foster patient accountability associated with a continuity of care model.

Renee is presently a Vice President at Meridian Healthcare Partners, and the Vice President of Ambulatory Care Services at Kern Medical Center, a 222-bed Tertiary Care and Academic Teaching facility. In her role, she has been responsible for the ongoing redesign of the hospital’s outpatient clinics including a restructuring of the authorization process and consolidating scheduling from four locations to a single centralized call center. The result was lowered appointment wait times enabling the clinic staff to authorize and schedule more patients, and increasing visits from 6,800 to 10,000 per month. She has also reorganized and provided oversight of Physician’s Professional-Fee Billing, increasing total billing and collections 100% over a three to four-month period.

Renee loves music, Bass Lake, and service to her church. Although, her favorite time is spent with her husband and four children, and particularly enjoys the role of Grandma.
